TIME-SENSITIVE ACTION ALERT FROM COMMON CAUSE:
Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) has reached an absolutely crucial moment in Massachusetts: Speaker DeLeo’s office has announced that it will come to a vote in the House tomorrow.
Your calls, letters, and efforts over the past several months have worked. And while this is a moment to celebrate, it’s also a moment to mobilize. We need to make sure that every Representative on Beacon Hill hears from constituents like you TODAY, asking them to vote in favor of AVR and support more inclusive, accurate, and secure elections in the Commonwealth.
- Call State Representative Timothy R. Whelan at (617) 722-2014.
- Call State Representative Sarah Peake at (617) 722-2040
We must do all we can to protect and expand our democracy. Automatic Voter Registration will make vital upgrades to our registration system, keeping our voter rolls more up-to-date, enhancing the security of our electoral process, and encouraging new voters to get involved. It’s a win for democracy, it’s a win for security, and it’s a win for voters.
However, in order for this measure to be in place for the next Presidential election in 2020, it must be approved by the House tomorrow. We can’t afford to wait any longer. Now is the time for Massachusetts to take a stand and fight for a better, more participatory democracy.
Now more than ever, your voice can make a difference. Call your representative in support of AVR today! Call State Representative Timothy R. Whelan at (617) 722-2014.
Automatic Voter Registration is the future of secure and modern elections. Tomorrow, we have the opportunity to take one huge step closer to bringing this groundbreaking reform to Massachusetts. Let’s do all we can to make it happen.
Thanks for all you do,
Pam Wilmot, Executive Director
And the team at Common Cause Massachusetts
