People’s Climate March Bus
April 28, 2017 - April 30, 2017$65
Please join us and other Sierra Club members and supporters from across the U.S. at the People’s Climate March on Saturday, April 29th. We arranged for a bus from the Sagamore Park & Ride and tickets are only $65.00.
The bus will load and depart Sagamore around 9:30-10 PM on Friday, April 28, arriving in Washington D.C. Saturday morning, April 29 in time for the march. Tickets are available here.
The People’s Climate March will go until about 3-4 PM (those details are forthcoming).
The buses will then depart for return to Massachusetts around 7 PM to make sure everyone has enough time to get back to their bus, returning early morning Sunday, April 30. We booked beds for our bus drivers at a hostel near RFK Stadium so they can be rested for the return drive to Massachusetts.
Why We March
Donald Trump’s assault on our environment just hit a new low. His administration just issued Executive Orders demanding the EPA ignore President Obama’s landmark climate protection, the Clean Power Plan. This means dirtier water, dirtier air, more childhood asthma, and a worsening climate for all of us in Massachusetts.
During the first week of Trump’s presidency, he advanced the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, put a gag order on the EPA, restricted access to reproductive healthcare around the world, put a ban on immigration and legal residents from 7 countries, and took steps towards building a wall.
It’s clearer than ever that we cannot just fight to stop climate change, we must speak out against injustice anywhere we see it. The same government and corporate interests that work to restrict rights and threaten the safety and well-being of Muslims, people of color, women, and the LGBTQ community simultaneously back the fossil fuel projects that destroy our planet and make our communities sick. We cannot have a healthy planet when our communities are robbed of their basic human rights. We will not allow climate deniers in Trump’s cabinet to threaten the planet and we will not allow attacks on immigrants, communities of color, women, the LGBTQ community, and workers to become the new normal.
Our fights are tied together, and we will only succeed together.
That’s why on April 29 we are calling on everyone to join us for a massive march to bring our demands to the streets of Washington, D.C. We will march for our air, our water, and our land. We will march for clean energy jobs and climate justice. We will march for our communities and the people we love.
We hope you can join us!
