Steering
The Steering Team handles administration of the group, and coordinates the other committees. It handles administrative functions, such as planning meetings, documenting activities, creating agendas and handling any business (financial or otherwise) of the group. The Team is currently comprised of 13 regular members, including leaders of the Communications, Issues, and Action/Outreach/Education teams and a number of at-large contributors
Communications
The Communications team creates, shapes, articulates and delivers the message of resistance and progressive causes in an effective and compelling manner. The team—which includes writers, editors, designers, public relations, social media, tech and marketing specialists—is tasked with presenting a cogent, consistent and professional face to the public across multiple platforms including online, social media and print. A key point of contact for all major external and internal relationships, the Communications team is involved in apt LCI activities at every stage and in a comprehensive manner, collaborating closely with all teams to identify, target and implement powerful message strategies with the aim of advancing LCI’s goals and expanding the organization’s outreach.
Issues
We have the most effect when we target elected officials with issues of immediate concern, something they will be voting on in the very near term. This team researches and identifies those issues and passes them on to the Action Teams.
Action
These teams take the issues at hand identified above, and create action items in one or more of these categories: calls, office visits, town hall meetings, physical mail and email, demonstrations and boycotts. The teams then distribute these action items to the entire group so those who would like can execute them.
Outreach
This falls into two main categories. One is outreach to other organizations with similar missions, be it other Indivisible groups, or organizations that have a similar, complementary mission, such as Stronger Together or MassAlliance. This is to ensure that we are not operating in a vacuum, and that our efforts can be leveraged along with others. The other category is individual outreach, helping those who have an interest and desire to make a difference have opportunities to find us and connect with us. When there are actual political campaigns happening, it could also include providing volunteer support to candidates.
Education
The Education committee works expand the knowledge and skills of our members and supporters through internal workshops offered by willing members, sourcing online resources, sharing classes and workshops being offered by other organizations, and any other method they see fit.
