Lower Cape Indivisible (LCI) is one of approximately 6000 local groups in the United States using the Indivisible Guide as a blueprint to oppose the Trump/Pence/McConnell/Ryan agenda. Our all-volunteer membership generally hails from the Lower Cape communities of Brewster, Chatham, Harwich and Orleans, Massachusetts — but all are welcome. We also collaborate with allied groups throughout Cape Cod, the Islands, and beyond.
Our mission is to mobilize for social, economic and environmental justice and promote universal participation in the democratic process and to resist political agendas that subvert American democracy.
While precise political affiliations and priorities vary among our members, we are united in our support for:
- Constitutional checks and balances
- Transparent, ethical government
- Freedom of the press
- Separation of church and state
- Tolerance and inclusion
- A healthy social safety net
- Responsible environmental stewardship
- An economy that works for all Americans
A recently-established organization, LCI is still in the formative stage. Nevertheless, we already have more than 700 members and subscribers to our informative newsletter, and have been featured in local media such as the Cape Cod Times, the Cape Codder, and WOMR’s The Lowdown.
Our members have facilitated and participated in events such as the Tax Day and Earth Day marches and Congressional Town Hall with Senator Markey and Representative Keating. We have organized and co-sponsored rallies, including the Provincetown Climate March and standouts supporting Charlottesville. We also sponsor educational lectures, such as the recent single-payer healthcare forum with Harvard Medicine Indivisible, our 6-part educational series on climate change, and our Accidental Activist series.
Our long-term action agenda is ambitious, and we are fortunate to have a highly skilled and motivated talent pool from which to draw to achieve our objectives. We welcome all who wish to participate, to whatever degree and in whatever capacity suits.
